So a few days ago, Vanity Fair published this piece
It’s pretty scathing. And a genuinely good restaurant review piece.
Then, about 14 hours later, our president-elect (who’s too busy to go to security briefings), took to Twitter to respond
Vanity Fair took it and ran with it.

So, of course, I subscribed. And I bought the $5 gift subscription for my mom, who’s…VERY republican.
I’m going to be spending the next 4 years supporting every publication that speaks out in any way against Trump. Yeah, that means Vanity Fair and Teen Vogue (if you haven’t read their article on how Trump is gaslighting America, you need to get on it). And if that means also getting some fantastic articles on pop culture and skin care, I’m on board.
So I just took a stroll on over to their Twitter account for the Country Music Association, and sure enough, there’s no mention of Beyonce (or the Dixie Chicks) anywhere. The coverage of last night’s show is very comprehensive, with photos of each winner (as they should have) and either gifs or video clips or tweets of every performance.
No mention of Beyonce.
So then I went over to CMA World, which is the main page for the Country Music Association. I read all of their press releases about the CMAs, but they were mostly focused on the winners. There was mention of Tim McGraw’s performance and Little Big Town’s performance, so I wasn’t really surprised Beyonce hadn’t been recognized.
So they just used the biggest pop star on the planet to give them a ratings boost in the face of the World Series because a lot of their viewing audience was siphoned off by that game. They filled in the extra space with the Beyhive and then pretended nothing ever happened because their ignorant fanbase got all up in their feelings about it. Mind you, Beyonce did not ask to perform – they came to her because “Daddy Lessons” is a great song…and they knew she was ratings gold. They asked her and then she asked if she could bring the Dixie Chicks with her. There’s no mention of the Dixie Chicks on any of ther sites either, but country music still hates them. The only reason they were there at all is because Beyonce – the invited guest they’re now ignoring – wanted to have them there.
Natalie Maines thought she’d never perform on that stage again and only did so because Beyonce asked them to. That’s the power of Beyonce. And I can’t believe the Country Music Association scrubbed any mention of her from their social media after the fact.
No wait, yes I can. The CMAs are definitely Donald Trump’s America. Brown people are to be used, but not respected. All of this is why I’ve never been to a country music concert and why I vet my country music artists in a way that I rarely vet other musicians. Before I listen to your album, I have to see where you are on the table of equality and in how close proximity you are to racism, bigotry, and feathered bangs.
Why are some white folks just so nasty and rude? I truly don’t understand what we did to Fox News Whites to make them so hateful all the damn time. You aging like buttermilk because your spirit is sour. Get right.
Edit 10:45pm
Since I do have a life and things to do and I’m not sitting by the computer 24/7, I wrote this in the early afternoon and then went about my day. Many a bitter white folk has been in my inbox to inform me that the link to the performers on the CMA Awards website now shows Beyonce, so therefore I’m a race-baiting crybaby and full of shit, as opposed to the CMA seeing their fuckery go viral thanks to TMZ and other outlets and trying to remedy the situation so country music doesn’t tarnish its shitty reputation even further. For the record, sources at the CMA confirmed that they did try to scrub Beyonce from their social media because ignorant country music fans were leaving terrible comments on everything, which doesn’t explain why she was deleted from the list of performers since there’s no comment section, but whatever. TMZ updated their post earlier today to point out that the CMA is re-adding images of Beyonce and the Dixie Chicks to their social media after they realized the story had started to spread. And finally…my original point still stands: bitter white people are hateful and they look like old milk. Good night.
